Catching up with the 2023 Corvette Z06

Chevrolet took the automotive world by storm with the reveal of the newest edition to the Corvette family, the 2023 Z06. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights of this historic Corvette:

 

 

Performance

The biggest news coming out of the latest announcement is the sheer power of this new vehicle. The Z06 is reportedly going to be putting out 670 horsepower and 460 sq lb of torque, coming out of a 5.5L V8 engine. That means this ‘vette is able to hit 60MPH in 2.6 seconds, which is faster than some current Ferrari models. However, it's one thing to have all the power—but how does it handle? Based on early reviews and commentary from the engineers, it's one of the most tightly tuned Corvettes ever made braking and hugging corners better than almost any 'vette before it. 

 

Design

Compared to this year’s Corvette Stingray, the upcoming Z06 is 3.6 inches wider in the rear, allowing for some hulking 345mm rear tires and 21 inch wheels—a full inch larger than those found on the Stingray. Front and rear brakes are also slightly larger, and the interior appears to be unchanged from the Stingray. The C8 had a very successful 

 

Fan Response

Surprising no one, the response from fans has been abundantly positive. Chevrolet released a 45 minute video on the Corvette YouTube channel going in depth into the process of creating the Z06. It’s been made clear that this Z06 is different from those that came before—one of the designers noting “This is the one that elevates the Corvette brand.” Many are comparing the new 'vette to actual professional racing vehicles more than competing performance cars. No matter which way you look at it, the eighth generation Z06 is big news.
