Instructions:
- Park vehicle on level ground, engage parking brake, and loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly.
- Raise the front of the vehicle with a jack and secure with jack stands; remove the front wheel.
- Locate the inner tie rod connected to the steering rack and the outer tie rod assembly.
- Loosen and remove the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle if necessary to access the inner tie rod.
- Use an inner tie rod removal tool or appropriate wrench to unthread the old inner tie rod from the steering rack. Protect the rack threads and steering boot during removal.
- Compare new part to removed part to confirm correct right/left orientation and thread size.
- Install the new inner tie rod by threading it onto the steering rack to manufacturer torque specifications. Apply thread locker if specified for your vehicle.
- If greasable, pack the joint with appropriate grease and attach any protective boot or clip.
- Reinstall the outer tie rod end and secure to the steering knuckle, torquing all fasteners to spec.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, tighten lug nuts to proper torque, and perform a preliminary steering check.
- Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure correct toe and overall steering geometry.
