Instructions:
- Park on level ground, engage parking brake and block rear wheels.
- Loosen front wheel lug nuts slightly, raise the vehicle with a jack and support securely on jack stands, then remove the wheel.
- Spray penetrating oil on fasteners (ball joint nut, control arm bolts) and allow to soak.
- Remove the cotter pin and loosen/remove the castle or nut securing the ball joint stud to the steering knuckle.
- Separate the ball joint stud from the knuckle using a ball joint press or pickle fork; be careful not to damage the knuckle.
- If the ball joint is pressed into the control arm, use a ball joint press to remove the old unit; if the control arm must be removed, unbolt it from the subframe.
- Position the new ball joint and press or bolt it into place per the part’s orientation (right/left specific).
- Install and torque the ball joint stud nut to factory specification and insert a new cotter pin if applicable.
- Reinstall the control arm (if removed) and torque all fasteners to factory specs.
- Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
- Perform a professional wheel alignment after installation to ensure proper handling and tire life.
