Front lower ball joint designed for 1958–1982 Chevrolet cars and trucks, serving as a critical pivot between the control arm and steering knuckle. This direct-replacement unit restores proper suspension geometry, improves steering response, and reduces play and vibration caused by worn joints. Constructed for durability and reliable performance, it helps maintain safety and prolongs tire life by ensuring correct wheel alignment under load. Ideal for restoration projects and routine suspension maintenance.
Features:
  • Fits 1958-1982 Chevrolet models (front lower, driver and passenger side)
  • Durable steel housing with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life
  • Precision-mounted stud and bearing to restore tight steering and suspension control
  • Helps reduce vibration, uneven tire wear, and steering play
  • Designed as a direct replacement for quick, no-fabrication installation
  • Suitable for restoration, maintenance, and performance-oriented repairs
Installation / Application:
  • Difficulty: 3/5
  • Estimated time: 1–2 hours per side
Suggested Tools:
  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Socket set and wrenches
  • Ball joint press or C-clamp and adapters
  • Hammer and pickle fork (optional)
  • Torque wrench
  • Pry bar
  • Penetrating oil
Instructions:
  1. Park vehicle on a level surface, chock rear wheels, and loosen front lug nuts.
  2. Raise the front of the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands; remove the wheel.
  3. Remove cotter pin and castle nut from the ball joint stud, then separate the ball joint from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator or pickle fork.
  4. Unbolt the lower control arm from any mounting points needed to access the ball joint (consult vehicle-specific service manual for exact fasteners).
  5. Press out the old ball joint using a ball joint press or appropriate C-clamp adapter. Apply penetrating oil if components are seized.
  6. Clean the control arm bore and inspect for damage or excessive wear. Replace control arm if necessary.
  7. Press the new ball joint into the control arm until fully seated, ensuring correct orientation and seating depth.
  8. Reassemble the control arm and steering knuckle. Install the new castle nut and torque to manufacturer specification, then insert a new cotter pin.
  9. Reinstall the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lug nuts to specification.
  10. Have a professional alignment performed after installation to ensure proper wheel alignment and tire wear.
