Direct-fit pair of rear shock absorbers engineered for 1997-2002 Chevrolet Corvette (C5) to restore factory ride quality and support adaptive/soft-ride damping systems. These two-piece shocks are designed to replace worn or leaking units, improving stability, ride comfort, and handling responsiveness while maintaining the car's OEM adaptive behavior. Built from durable materials with corrosion-resistant finishes and precision valving, they deliver consistent performance mile after mile and are ideal for maintenance, restoration, or performance refresh projects.
Features:
- Fitment: Direct replacement rear shocks for Chevrolet Corvette 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 (C5) with adaptive/soft-ride suspension.
- Two-piece design replicates factory fit and function for proper travel and mounting.
- Adaptive/soft-ride compatible valving preserves original electronic/manual ride characteristics.
- Durable construction with corrosion-resistant finish for long service life.
- Restores ride comfort, reduces bounce, and improves rear-end stability and handling.
- Easy bolt-on installation — ideal for restoration or routine shock replacement.
Installation / Application:
- Difficulty: 2/5
- Estimated time: 45-90 minutes
Instructions:
- Park vehicle on a level surface, engage parking brake and chock front wheels.
- Loosen rear wheel lug nuts slightly while car is on the ground.
- Raise the rear of the vehicle with a floor jack and support securely on jack stands under the frame.
- Remove the rear wheels to access the shock absorbers.
- Spray mounting bolts and hardware with penetrating oil and allow to soak if corroded.
- Support lower control arm with a jack or stand to relieve tension on the shock (if applicable).
- Remove the lower shock mounting bolt(s) and nut(s).
- Remove the upper shock mounting nut(s) while supporting the shock, then remove the old shock assembly.
- Compare new shocks to old units to confirm correct length and mounting orientation.
- Position the new shock and loosely install the upper mounting hardware first, then the lower hardware.
- With the suspension at ride height (lower the control arm carefully if you supported it), torque all shock mounting fasteners to manufacturer specifications.
- Reinstall the wheels, lower the vehicle to the ground, and torque wheel lug nuts to spec.
- Test-drive at low speed to confirm proper ride and that no unusual noises are present. Re-check fastener torque after first 50-100 miles.
