TECH NOTES:
Introduced in 1970, the Transmission Controlled Spark (T.C.S.) System controls exhaust emissions by eliminating vacuum advance in the lower forward gears, while at operating temperature.
This Transmission Controlled Spark (T.C.S.) Switch is one component of the emission system. It screws into the cylinder head to detect coolant temperature. When activated, this switch is designed to override this system, until the engine temperature reaches a set temperature. This allows vacuum advance in all gears, thereby preventing stalling after starting.
