Thermostats can become stuck in the closed position and cause an engine to overheat. In this event, the coolant temperature will likely rise quickly to the boilding point determined by the system pressure cap and exhaust to the ground. This condition is very rare and in most cases the thermostat is not the cause of an overheating engine.
The Hypertech Powerstat allows your engine to cool down to lower temperatures than the factory thermostat. You get performance in two ways: mass flow rate of intake air is increased and detonation is reduced. Allows the engine to produce more horsepower. Low temp thermostats should be used in an engine controlled by a computer to insure consistent performance. Hypertech Thermo Master Power Chips have been designed to operate with these Lo-Temp Powerstats
