A tachometer is an instrument that measures the working speed of an engine, typically in revolutions per minute (RPM). It gives you valuable insight about your vehicle’s performance and overall health. A non-functioning tachometer could result in you operating your vehicle without knowledge of poor engine health possibly resulting in issues with your vehicle down the road. On 1975-1982 Corvettes the integrated circuit board is the culprit on 95% of non-working tachs and replacing the ICB can be accomplished with ordinary hand tools.
